Explore Wandering Woman’s Solo Travel

Have you ever dreamed of hitting the open road, exploring the vast expanses of the United States, and visiting places steeped in history and natural beauty? Maybe you’ve been waiting for the perfect travel buddy to join you. But here’s the truth: the perfect travel companion might already be sitting right next to you—you! When you travel solo, you embark on a journey not only through new places but also deep within yourself. It’s a chance to discover your own strengths, desires, and capabilities. And I’m here to show you how to make that solo adventure a reality.

Hi, I’m Julie, the Wandering Woman. I’m an avid traveler, writer, and history lover, with a degree in archaeology that has fueled my passion for exploring the past. For the last five years, I’ve been traveling full-time across the United States, uncovering hidden historical treasures, archaeological sites, and scenic vistas that most people never get to see. And along the way, I’ve learned that solo travel isn’t just about seeing the world; it’s about discovering who you truly are when you’re on your own.

I started my journey in my trusty Honda CRV, camping out in it for the first year. It was just me and my dog, Sadie, exploring the country. But life has a way of changing things, and I lost Sadie during my first year of travel. The loss was heartbreaking, and for a while, I couldn’t bear to look into the backseat of my car and see that she wasn’t there. So, I traded my CRV for a small RV van combination—an upgrade that allowed me to continue my adventures while also adapting to the need for a bit more space and comfort on the road.

After a year of grieving Sadie’s absence, I was blessed with a new companion: Rosie, a sweet dog who now travels with me and shares in all the wonders of our journey. Together, Rosie and I explore new places, from dusty old archaeological sites to breathtaking landscapes. But whether it’s the thrill of a historical discovery or simply taking a quiet walk through a small town, the essence of solo travel remains the same—it’s about the freedom to follow your own path, on your own terms.

Now, I invite you to join me on this exciting journey through my Wandering Woman Travel Series. If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing the world on your own, I’ll show you how to get started. Solo travel can feel intimidating at first, especially as a woman, but it’s also one of the most empowering experiences you can have. The world is full of incredible destinations waiting for you to explore, and every single one holds the potential for self-discovery.

Solo travel teaches you to trust yourself, be adaptable, and appreciate the beauty of your own company. You’ll learn to navigate new places, meet people from all walks of life, and step out of your comfort zone in ways you never thought possible. And most importantly, you’ll realize that you don’t need anyone else to make your adventure complete—you are already whole, and the road ahead is yours to travel.

So, what are you waiting for? The open road is calling, and it’s waiting for you to take that first step. Pack your bags, grab a road atlas, and let your own adventure begin. Happy travels!
